Assessing Vocational Achievement

Overview

The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is designed to reflect the requirements of Assessors in all occupational sectors and will provide professional recognition for those working in assessment and quality assurance.

Your assessor will use a range of assessment techniques during your training and these will include; direct observation of you with one of your learners; question and answer sessions; and professional discussion to check your knowledge and understanding.

The course is delivered on an average of 6-8 months depending on each individuals learning plan. Candidates will need to successfully complete a portfolio that fully demonstrates their competence as an NVQ assessor. In addition, they will be assessed by the course tutor with an
observation working with a candidate.

There is no examination.

Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

This qualification is open to anyone who needs to know about assessing or who is interested in learning about what assessing involves.

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment

Who is the Qualification for?

This qualification is for practitioners who assess the achievement of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (e.g. witnesses), learner statements and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Entry Requirements

Learners must be fully competent practitioners and where applicable, hold the relevant practitioner qualifications in the work area in which they are seeking to become assessors.

Course Content

This qualification consists of two units:

Unit 5313 - Understanding the Principles
and Practices of Assessment

Unit 5314 - Assess Occupational Competence
in the Work Environment

Assessment for this unit will include observation in the work place, assessment of product evidence, discussion and Questioning.

Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement

Who is the Qualification for?

This qualification is for Practitioners who assess the achievement in
vocationally related situations e.g. classrooms or workshops and who use the
following assessment methods: assessments in simulated environments, skills
tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be fully competent practitioners and where applicable, hold the
relevant practitioner qualifications in the work area in which they are seeking
to become assessors.

Course Content

This qualification consists of two units:

Unit 5313 - Understanding the Principles
and Practices of Assessment

Unit 5319 - Assess Vocational Skills,
Knowledge and Understanding

Assessment for this unit will include observation in the work place, assessment of product evidence, discussion and Questioning.

This qualification is for practitioners who assess vocational achievement using
all assessment methods and need to be qualified in all aspects of assessment.

to become assessors.
